Is it safe to travel for medical care abroad – how do I know the clinics are good?

At TravaDental we make every possible effort to ensure that we only partner with the highest-quality clinics. Unlike many services you’ll find online – we are not ourselves a clinic – and therefore have no allegiance to any particular practice or surgery. As a result - we are free to rigorously select our clinics based on their experience, the results of their work, the accreditation and the caliber of their facilities and equipment.

Are the dentists experienced?

Our dental teams are highly experienced – having performed hundreds of dental implant procedures. What’s more they, as well as our anaesthetists, attend conferences in the USA and Germany on a regular basis to make sure they are up-to-date with the very latest techniques.

Is there any difference between implant brands?

There is a substantial difference between the brand of implants used in your procedure - so it is important to consider what you’re getting when you are quoted a price. The brands that are internationally recognised as the best are Straumann and Nobel Biocare. Both these brands are considered by dentists to be the best in terms of the quality of their parts, how long they last, and crucially - how easy it is to get replacement parts down the line in the unlikely event of something going wrong.There is a substantial difference between the brand of implants used in your procedure - so it is important to consider what you’re getting when you are quoted a price. Will the clinic and doctors know my language?

All the clinics we partner with have a high standard of English and are highly experienced dealing with patients from abroad.

How long before my procedure do I need to arrive? How long after do I need to stay?

Every procedure will have a different time frame – however for dental implants/all-on-4/6 restoration, our dental surgeons recommend a 6-10 day round trip.

Will it be safe to travel after my procedure?

Your personalised itinerary is drawn up in close conjunction with the surgeons who advise precisely when it is safe to travel after the procedure. For dental implants they advise that it is safe to travel the day after the final stage of the procedure.

What happens if my flight is cancelled?

In the unlikely event that your flight is cancelled – your airline will almost always be responsible for rebooking or offering a refund – (see your flight operator’s full terms and conditions for more details).
In terms of the procedure itself – in most cases it will not affect the date of the procedure – but we will make suitable arrangements in the rare case that it delays the procedure.

What happens if I need follow-up?

TravaDental will arrange any additional follow up procedures that are necessary in your country of origin. As with local dentists – this will cost an additional amount. See our full terms and conditions for more info.

What if something goes wrong after the procedure?

While it is very rare for something to go wrong with the procedures – our partner clinics guarantee to rectify any serious problem that arise from mistakes in the procedure. Furthermore – the dental implants we use carry international manufacturer warranties in the unlikely event that something goes wrong with them. See our terms for more info.

Will I need any travel documents?

All our destinations only require you to have a valid passport.

How can I contact travadental when I’m abroad – what happens in an emergency?

In the case of a genuine emergency – always contact the local emergency services – we will provide you with all the appropriate numbers before travel. During the procedure you will always have a number with which to contact us and can email or message us as usual.

What do you do with my information?

We maintain a very strict patient privacy policy and do not share your private information with anyone other than your surgeons (see our privacy policy – link). All our forms and sites have the highest level security installed.

Can I bring a companion on the trip?

We often advise patients that it is good to bring someone along, and our apartments and airport transfers are for 2 - included in the price.
As there is often time for some sightseeing and relaxation – it can be a good opportunity for a holiday with loved ones or friends.
